Trek: : BhimaShankar
Compass
Bhimashankar is at a height of 3250 feet. Karjat is the nearest station from which bus for Khandas can be caught and proceed further. There are two ways to go from here, Via Shidi Ghat and Via Ganesh Ghat . Shidi Ghat can be only taken by pro trekker and only in winter season or early summer season. During rainy season this path should be avoided. There are total 3 shidis (staircase) in between the route which is quite difficult to pass. Once these 3 shidis u pass one will cover almost more than half the way of Bhimashankar. There is joint point comes where Shidi Ghat and Ganesh Ghat gets merge. From here route gets common for both. Ganesh ghat is simple but long route to trek. One can try climbing up by Shidi Ghat and clime down by Ganesh Ghat. There is also alternative to go back to your home that is by road. Once you reach at top you can visit Bhimashankar Temple, Gupta linga, Medicine point, etc…. and take bus or private taxi to Manchar and from here you will get taxi or ST bus to Mumbai or pune.

Transport Go to Karjat by train or S. T. from Karjat catch bus or 8 seated rickshow for Khandas. Karjat - Khadas is about 40 km. taken 45 mints as roads are bad. 1st S. T. bus is at 7:30 am.
Time to reach top 3 hrs by Shidi Ghat and 5 hrs by Ganesh Ghat.
Water Availibility Water is availabe at Khandas as well at Bhimashankar
Best time to Visit Any time but avoid in Summer.
Sights to Visit Bhimashankar Temple, Gupta Linga, Nagphani point, Medicine point.
Difficulty Rating A bit difficult via Shidi Ghat but easy by Ganesh Ghat

To the east of Karjat and in the opposite to the Rajmachi lies this trek with thrilling rock patch. Last half n hour is most difficult and yet trilling, after this patch you will land into the caves and Bhairoba temple. One can see spectacular view from caves.

Korigad is small and most simple trek in Sahyadri region. One can start trekking with this trek, it has few rock steps to reach at top. Nice beautiful view of amby valley can be seen from the fort. But it hurts to see that fort is also getting encroach.

Lohgad is situated about 5 Km. from Malavali station. First one should reach Lonavala by any Central-Southern mail/express, catch a local train from Lonavala to Malavali. From Malavali one can catch a rickshaw to Bhaje village. 1½ hours walk from Bhaje will lead to Lohgadwadi.15 min walk from Lohgadwadi will take you to the top.
